WWII Carbine Holster

Made in 1943. Owned by "Joe W." Leather with steel. I think the idea was that paratroopers could come down with their carbines in a belt holster and if they saw the Indians circling the wagons below, they could whip out their rifles and pick them off their horses. I know you saw Indians riding around a circle of covered wagons in at least 50 different movies. Do you know there is not one documented case of such an event ever occuring? Not one. Good old Hollywood. Since its all fantasy, you might as well throw in some paratroopers gliding in instead of the cavalry charging up on horses. I use to think it was a jeep mounted scabbard. Now, I'm not sure. I do know it fits a mini-14 perfectly.

WWI Mess Kit Knife

Carbon steel blade. Aluminum handle. Not made to the highest standards but the doughboys were just going to gripe about the food anyway. Made at the Rock Island Arsenal in 1917.

Adams Chewing Gum

Adams Chewing Gum vending machine. I dug this up in a commercial lot on North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1971. It has not been restored yet.

Brass Blow Torch

In 1882, three brothers named Lambert started a pioneering venture - the manufacture and sale of gasoline burning blow torches. Mechanics found the intense portable heat of these torches useful and time saving in the soldering of pipe, discouraging people with large hats or hair styles from sitting in front of you in theatres, halloween pranks, etc. Demand for these tools grew and business flourished.
In 1888, a patented firepot for melting lead was added to the torch line. It's inventor, a Mr. Clayton, was included in the partnership, beginning the long namesake history of Clayton & Lambert.
By 1899, demand for the Company's products had increased beyond its production capacity. A larger manufacturing facility was needed. A plant was soon built in Detroit, then the center of manufacturing for that section of the country. The Company's products were evaluated by users as the finest of their kind in the world.
Patent dates are from 1921
